New York, NY – Nov. 5, 2007 — The Treatment Action Group (TAG), one of the leading worldwide organizations in AIDS research advocacy, will host its 11 thannual "Research in Action Awards," a benefit honoring individuals who have made a significant impact in AIDS research and activism.

"We are honoring three heroes who have fought to keep AIDS in the public eye, through activism, medical care, and leadership," says Mark Harrington, executive director of TAG. "After twenty-five years of AIDS, TAG is committed to continuing the work laid out by these leaders until we have a cure, a vaccine, and full human rights for people with HIV/AIDS everywhere."

The 2007 Research In Action Awards event will take place at The Drawing Center (located at 35 Wooster Street, between Grand & Broome Sts.) on Sunday, December 9th, from 6:00-8:00PM. Downtown denizen Jackie Hoffman, who is currently starring on Broadway in the hit musical Xanadu will host.

This year’s honorees include Christine Quinn, City Council Speaker, David Mixner, author, political strategist, civil rights activist and public affairs advisor and Dr. Jim Yong Kim, head of Francois-Xavier Bagnoud Center for Health and Human Rights at Harvard School of Public Health who formerly served as HIV Director at WHO.

TAG will also offer a limited edition print by artist Carrie Yamaoka, twenty of which will be available through event ticket sponsorship.
