Tracy Swan joined TAG in September 2003. She has been working in HIV/AIDS since 1990. She began as a volunteer at the Massachusetts HDAP (HIV Drug Assistance Program). In 1992, Ms. Swan joined the staff of JRI Health, a Massachusetts-based non-profit organization pursuing social justice for underserved individuals and communities. Ms Swan coordinated an HIV counseling and testing program for GLBT youth and developed a counseling and testing curriculum for JRI staff. In 1998, she left JRI Health to work at the Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), where she developed policies and protocols for HIV counseling and testing programs and services, and trained CHA staff and students from Harvard Medical School. Ms Swan created an HCV education and services program, and provided HIV/HCV prevention and treatment information in a variety of venues, including detoxification facilities, residential drug treatment programs, transitional housing, methadone clinics, homeless shelters and a syringe exchange program.

Ms Swan has worked as a training and curriculum development consultant for the Latino Health Institute, The Boston University School of Social Work, and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. She joined the Adult AIDS Clinical Trials Group's Community Constituency Group in April of 2000, serving as the community representative to the Immunology Research Agenda Committee and the Liver Disease Subcommittee until her departure in April of 2003. She is an active member of the AIDS Treatment Activists Coalition (ATAC).

She moved to New York City in April 2001, where she was hired as the Access Project Director at AIDS Treatment Data Network. In December 2001, she joined the staff at ACRIA, where she worked as a treatment educator and coordinator of a national treatment education program. She left ACRIA in July of 2002 to work on the upcoming version 2.0 of TAG's Hepatitis C Report.

Ms Swan has written for GMHC's Treatment Issues, TPAN's Positively Aware and ACRIA Update. She has presented on HCV treatment access and interactions between HAART and illicit drugs at the National Treatment Advocates Forum (NATAF) and organized a teach-in on research advocacy for the AIDS Treatment Activists Coalition (ATAC). Her areas of interest include hepatitis C, antiretroviral treatment strategies, HIV immunology and pathogenesis, access to care and treatment for HIV/HCV and education.

Ms Swan was born and raised in West Hollywood, California. She has studied journalism, psychology and clothing design.
